Tai Chi Balance

Build Stability & Confidence from the Ground Up

Find Stability Without Trying So Hard

Balance begins from the ground up. Once you can truly feel the ground beneath your feet, the next step is learning how to use that connection to create greater balance, stability, mobility, and confidence in movement. In this 90-minute experiential workshop, we’ll explore the concept of rooting. Allowing the feet, hips, spine, and nervous system to work together so the body can feel supported without unnecessary muscular effort or tension.

Through accessible practices drawn from Tai Chi, Qigong, and mindful movement, you’ll learn how releasing tension and improving hip mobility can change the way you stand, shift your weight, walk, and move. You'll experience foundational standing practice, hip-opening and releasing exercises, Silk Reeling movements, and accessible Qigong movements including Brush Knee and Push, Wave Hands Like Clouds, and Wild Horse Parts Mane. Each practice is taught from the ground up so you can begin to feel how movement in the whole body can originate through your connection with the feet. Rather than simply practicing balance exercises, you'll explore the sensory and movement patterns that support better balance, coordination, posture, functional mobility, body awareness, and healthy aging.

The goal isn't to become better at trying to balance. It's to help your body organize itself better for stability. You'll leave with simple practices you can incorporate into everyday life—including something as ordinary as standing up from a chair—to continue developing greater ease, awareness, and confidence in how you move.

No previous Tai Chi or Qigong experience is necessary. All movements are taught in an accessible and approachable way.

If you are inviting a guest, you must fill out the name and email address under the "Who will attend?" section of the checkout to guarantee them a space in the workshop.
