Dan Laspisa

Dan began practicing yoga in 2009 as a complement to his other exercise modalities. He found it to be a great way to improve balance, flexibility, core strength, and to aid in recovery from high impact and high intensity workouts. As chronic pain and injuries from his military career accumulated, Dan turned to yoga as an important component of his own healing, both mentally and physically. Having served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other areas suffering from conflict and instability, he recognized how much pain exists in the world and found a deep desire to be part of the solution, rather than the problem.

In 2025, Dan retired from the US Army and decided to elevate his yoga practice by attending Pranakriya’s 200-hour yoga teacher training course. He found a renewed love for the practice and a desire to help others navigating their own path whether for physical fitness, mental health, spiritual connection, or any other reason. When teaching classes, Dan seeks to create an environment that is safe and welcoming for everyone, but also provides a challenge; as our accomplishments on the mat prepare us for the difficulties of the outside world.

Off the mat, Dan’s greatest passion is music. He teaches guitar, including as a volunteer for a non-profit organization called Guitars 4 Vets. He also enjoys comedy, bar trivia, reading, outdoor activities, and spending time with friends. In the near future, Dan aspires to earn his PhD and become a college professor.
